Flowers

Beautiful flowers decorate every aspect of a wedding and they are worn or carried by the bride, groom and wedding party to add splendor and radiance.

Floral arrangements can be chosen to match themes, colours or special meanings, and brides can select flowers to complement each segment of the day.

Flowers that represent love, purity and innocence are traditionally sued in wedding ceremonies, and greenery is included for contrast and meaning.

Creative additions are endless. Ivy represents fidelity and honeysuckle relates to pure affection. Gardenias impart a meaning of joy. Violets convey modesty and faithfulness and daisies relate to a sharing of feelings.

The most popular flowers for weddings are roses, lilies, freesias, snapdragons, calla lilies, orchids, tulips, hydrangeas and gardenias. But anything goes, and you can make your wedding as dazzling as you like.

It’s a great idea to visit a florist early in the planning, to discuss your ideas and get a wider perspective. It’s also helpful if you have your bridal gown and bridesmaid’s dresses selected, or at least have an idea of the colours that will be involved.

Ask your florist what their capabilities and recommendations are. And ask to view their wedding portfolio.

Bridal bouquets are as varied as the brides who carry them. To help with your decision making, browse bridal magazines, taking particular note of the bouquets held by different brides wearing different styles of outfit. Also note what the bridesmaids are carrying and the types of arrangements on the tables at the reception.
