Delegating the Duties
In this day and age you can chop and change responsibilities as you like, but if you are looking for a traditional wedding, then these are generally regarded as being the duties prescribed to each set of the bridal party:
Chief Bridesmaid / Matron of Honour
- Helps arrange and host bridal shower
- Keeps a record of shower and wedding gifts for the bride
- Acts as an official witness
- Helps to calm the brides nerves
- Rearranges the gown before, during and after the ceremony
- Holds the bride’s accessories at the ceremony and reception
- Assists the bride when changing from her wedding gown
- Attends the rehearsal
- Attends as member of the receiving line and sits at the head table
- Assists with decorating reception room
Bridesmaids
- Assist with bridal shower
- Help put together reception favours
- Organises confetti, rice or rose petals to throw for the getaway
- Decorate the cars
- Attend the rehearsal
- Attend as members of the receiving line and sits at the head table
- Assist with decorating reception room
Best man
- Pays the officiant and other outstanding bills (money provided by groom)
- Responsible for the groom arriving on time
- Gives a toast at the reception
- Keeps rings, licence and honeymoon tickets safe
- Plans for reception exit transportation
- Attends the rehearsal
- Attends as member of the receiving line and sits at the head table
- Assists with decorating reception room
Groomsmen
- Assist the best man with any of his duties as needed
- Attend the rehearsal
- Attend as member of the receiving line and sits at the head table
- Assist with decorating the reception room
